Leadership

Principal

I am a Phoenix native where I graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Multilingual/Multicultural Elementary Education. I continued my education by attending graduate school at Grand Canyon University, earning my master's degree in Education Administration.

As a former middle school math teacher, it was great to be back at the middle school after six years at the high school level as an assistant principal.  I am excited to have our students back in person this year, and our staff is looking forward to continuing to help all students grow and achieve success.  Going into this school year we know how crucial it will be to continue the momentum from the last school year in getting our students back into the routine of school and to continue to close educational gaps that have occurred during the pandemic.  This year our English and Math classes will be in a block setting, which are 75 minutes for each subject.  All other subjects will be the traditional 48-minute classes. This will allow our English and Math teachers to continue to close educational gaps by providing additional intervention support as well as provide enrichment for students who are excelling.

At Vista Verde Middle School, there are many opportunities for students to become successful. Our teachers are committed to providing meaningful and engaging instruction. We have strong nationally recognized academic programs with A.V.I.D. (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and our International Baccalaureate (M.Y.P.) Programs.

Vista Verde Middle School continues to reinforce Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) to create an environment where expectations for behavior have been clearly communicated, explicitly taught, and positively reinforced by all our faculty and staff.  At Vista Verde, our students will be PAWSitive!

Prepared + Accountable+Willing to participate + Safe = PAWS

We continue to focus on establishing connections with students, teachers, and peers to build a stronger sense of community.  This collaboration is essential to have a successful school year. As parents, you expect and deserve the best education possible for your child. Let’s make this school year the best one yet! Please feel free to contact me at (602) 449-5300 or via email at pferrero@pvschools.net if you have any questions or you would just like to introduce yourself.

Sincerely,

Paul Ferrero

Kimberly Koda Wenger

Kimberly Koda Wenger

My name is Kimberly Koda-Wenger and I am excited to join the Vista Verde Middle School team and community! I am an Arizona native and product of PV Schools as a graduate of Horizon High School. Last December my husband and I welcomed our first baby, a little girl, who has brought us so much joy but also the pressures of being a parent and my child’s greatest advocate. I received my Bachelors Degree of Science in Cross Categorical Special Education from the University of Arizona and my Master's in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. I started my educational journey 12 years ago teaching Kindergarten through 8th grade resource (special education math and English) and then moved to administrative roles as the Dean and Assistant Principal at Pinnacle High School for the past three years. I am so excited to be back in the middle school setting as I enjoy being a part of these formative years for students as they prepare for high school and beyond. I truly believe that all students learn best when they are appreciated and accepted for who they are and I will work with staff to ensure that the social and academic needs of all students are met.

I am committed to leading our PBIS program as well as navigating discipline systems here at VVMS to ensure student safety and productivity. I also look forward to supporting our clubs to create activities that continue to build our Jaguar pride throughout campus.

To be successful, communication is essential, so please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can work together.

Thank you,

Mrs. Koda
